So recently I've been looking at servers, and I've run various benchmarks for various providers. They were previously in another thread, but thought I'd compile them all for ease of use. My main catagory when I was looking was it needed to support 4GB of RAM, docker (so limited to KVM), and be as cheap as I could find, whilst still being reliable.

Note that the stress NG scores, higher is better. Speed test results are done over 3 runs, and the unusual hard drive figure shown on vapornode is probably due to lots of mounted volumes and docker. All services have proven to be very good, although vapornode (the one I want to use is having some packet loss issues at the moment, and its screwing up the network. I am working with support to get them resolved however).

BuyVM Catastrophic Data Failure - All data lost on a node!

BuyVM suffered a catastrophic failure on a node where multiple SSD controllers failed. Anyone else effected by this? I am! Still waiting for the new server to be provisioned. Good thing I had a semi-recent backup. BuyVM will also be restoring their backup, but it's a few days old and unsure if it contains everything.

Often enough when replying as a customer to a ticket I find myself in this peculiar position. When I want to close the ticket while thanking whoever handled it I think that it might be annoying since I am basically bumping the ticket queue with a "blabla thanks!".

I'm looking for a dedi with the following specs:

    Intel CPU with 4 physical cores and HT  (something like Xeon E3-1260 or better)
    32GB Ram
    120GB SSD or bigger
    and 500GB HD or bigger
    1Gbps link to the internet (not much traffic, but needs to be able to saturate the port when downloading data).

Preferred location is NY, as i need good connectivity to Boston (< 10ms), so test ip are welcomed.

Clearly there's certain variables for certain hosts geologically that remain the same regardless of the data center.

Example, Seattle -> Japan.

Presumably it's either LA, NYC, Seattle, Dallas, or Chicago?

But what would be the single best over all for one single location that wants to service primarily the United States, but still has misc over seas visitors?

my tiny 256mb storage vps struggling to handle ttrss+nextcloud. and I have a tiny nat vps idleing, and apperently it's on same datacenter. ping between them is about 0.5ms, but it's from different provider.
