Odd thing ive noticed about the "old" solusvm

For a while now, ive been noticing two 'versions' of solusvm (below screenshots)

Oddly, the 'old' version that some hosts are still using are having some major issues with some operations, such as hostname changes, which have to be done by the host. So far, Ive had two providers who have this 'old' version that are experiencing this issue. Ive only used ubuntu 12.04 templates for these two hosts, so I can speak for other templates.

The new version seems fine

Can anyone whose familiar with solusvm shine a light on the issue?
